Opah, also called moonfish, sunfish, kingfish, and redfin ocean pan, is a large deep-ocean fish that is found in much of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, but is uncommon as a culinary fish outside of Hawai'i.

Sustainability

Opah is not usually a targeted commercial species, but is generally bycatch of tuna and mahi mahi. Because of concerns with the longline gear used for these species, opah is usually rated ALTERNATIVE or AVOID.
