Malay apple (Syzygium malaccense), also known as Malay rose apple, mountain apple, rose apple, Otaheite apple, pink satin-ash, and pommerac, is a species of flowering tree native to the Southeast Asian archipelago and Australia. The fruit is eaten raw or juiced to make wine in Puerto Rico and Hawaii, and the edible flowers are used in Indonesia to make salads. The texture of the fruit is described as similar to a pear, with less sweetness than an apple.
