Jerez-Xérès-Sherry is the official name for the Spanish wine-producing region around the city of Jerez de la Frontera, in Andalusia. It is a region with Denominación de Origen Protegida status, and only wine produced in this area may legally be labeled "sherry".
The English term "sherry" is an anglicization of the Spanish word Xérès or Jerez.
