Jabuticaba, also called jaboticaba or jabuticaba, is the fruit of the Brazilian grapetree (Plinia cauliflora), native to the southern states of Brazil. It is a purple-skinned fruit with white pulp that grows directly on the trunk. Jabuticabas have poor shelf life, and are either sold fresh or used to make jams, tarts, wine, and liqueur. The flavor of the fruit varies between varieties, ranging from grape-like to lychee to berry.
