Indonesian Bay Leaf (Syzygium polyanthum), called daun salam, kelat samak, or simply samak in Indonesian, is an Indonesian spice tree in the myrtle family. It is sometimes incorrectly called Indian bay leaf, but is unrelated to true Indian bay leaf, Malabathrum; the error is due to the Dutch colonial period in which Indonesia was refered to as "East India".
