Greengage (or Green gage) plums are a sweet cultivar of the plum, originally from Iran, which are now widely cultivated. They have relatively small fruit (2 to 4 cm) with smooth, pale green flesh, which can also contain yellow or blush color in some cultivars. In France they are called Reine Claude or la bonne reine.
They are considered one of the finest dessert plums, suitable for candying, jam, and compotes, and excellent for eating out of hand.
