Fundador is a Spanish brandy produced in Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, by Bodegas Fundador, the oldest winery in the region. First marketed in 1874, Fundador holds the distinction of being the first Spanish brandy to be commercialized, marking the beginning of a new category of spirits in Spain. The brandy is made using the solera system, a traditional aging process where the spirit is matured in American oak barrels previously used for aging sherry. This imparts distinctive characteristics to the brandy, linking it closely to the region's sherry production. Over the years, Fundador has expanded its range to include various expressions, such as Fundador Solera, Fundador Supremo, and other aged variants. The brand was historically part of the Domecq family's enterprises but became part of Grupo Emperador in 2016.
