Linseed oil, also known as flaxseed oil or flax oil is a colorless to yellowish oil obtained from the dried, ripened seeds of the flax plant (Linum usitatissimum).
While it is sometime used as a woodworking finish, it is also an edible oil, with high levels of polyunsatured fat. In parts of Europe, it is traditionally eaten with potatoes and quark.
