Douillon normand is a French dessert of apples baked in pastry, a specialty of the Normandy region. The apples are hollowed out and the cavity filled with fillings such as jelly, sugar and cinnamon, or marzipan, and then the apple is closed in a square of dough and baked. The dish can also be made with pears instead of apples.
Douillons are usually served warm with a sauce, such as honey-Calvados, caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, or vanilla sauce.
The dish is quite similar to the American apple dumpling.
