AIP, or Autoimmune Protocol, is a dietary restriction that limits food intake to vegetables (excluding the nightshade family), seafood, fermented foods, lean meats and liver, small amounts of fruit, and olives, avocado, and coconut oil.
Studies of the effectiveness for AIP as a treatment for inflammatory bowel disease are limited; a single uncontrolled study has shown promising results but a randomized controlled trial has not yet been published.
